Electronic waste, commonly referred to as e-waste, is one of the fastest-growing segments in the solid waste stream. Currently, only 15-20% of the e-waste is recycled. More than 20% of the globally generated e-waste comes from the European Union. In the past 20 years, the European Union generated more than 180 million tonnes of electronic waste. There are huge differences in e-waste from one region to another. Electronic recycling is becoming increasingly crucial to the future of the planet.
